How I Became a Tarot Reader

Hi, Kindred Spirit! 🌙

Welcome to the first episode of the new season of Full Heart Free Voice! This week, I’m telling you the story of how I came to work with tarot cards and become a tarot reader. Then I pull a card for us, and I have a fun little magical book recommendation for Samhain season.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why tarot scared me for most of my 20 years as a witch

  • What I was taught about tarot growing up in an evangelical church

  • How I left the church at 17 and found my way into witchy practice, Reiki, and divination

  • The wild pull toward tarot that wouldn’t go away, even though it frightened me

  • What happened when I started pulling one card a day

  • The difference between tarot (a system of archetypes) and oracle cards

  • The moment I pulled a card for one of my life coaching clients, and why it changed everything

  • How a Tarot & Life Clarity session works

  • Our tarot pull on divine timing

  • The difference between Chronos time and Kairos time

The card we pulled: the 2 of Swords ⚔️

The question: What do we need to know about divine timing?

  • The 2 of Swords shows a blindfolded woman sitting by the water with two swords crossed over her heart.

  • Traditionally, it points to a block: something you can’t see, or a decision you can’t make without clarity.

  • My message from the card: divine timing happens when it happens, and it’s okay if it’s slow.

  • You are never too old or too young for what’s calling you.

  • Ordinary clock time (Chronos) can be the blindfold. Divine timing is Kairos time: universal, outside the clock, and always perfect.

  • You can take the blindfold off, put the swords down, and release the shame about where you are.

My book recommendation 📚

The Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna

A very powerful witch loses most of her magic when she resurrects her beloved aunt. Ten years later, she’s running her aunt’s magical inn with a cast of quirky characters, and she discovers there may be a way to get her power back. It’s full of found family, healing, transformation, love, and a magic school. It’s also about what it feels like to be an unconventional person who’s been made to feel like an outcast, and how you can find the place where you belong.

Journal prompts to try this week ✍️

  • What have I been told not to do that part of me feels called toward?

  • Where am I telling myself I should be further along?

  • If I trusted that my timing is perfect, what would my next step be?
